Home & Family Program

The Home and Family Program is provided for families of children who do not attend "Rainbow Over the Mountain" due to unavoidable family commitments. Families who have missed the deadline for registration for the summer program also will attend the Home and Family Program.

GOALS

Spiritual Goals
  • To grow in faith as individuals, as a family, and as a community.
  • To increase our communication with God by praying as a family on a regular basis.
Educational Goals
  • To grow in knowledge of the truths of our faith by teaching Christian concepts weekly.
  • To grow in awareness of the application of our Christian beliefs by reinforcing Christian concepts on a daliy basis.
Family Life Goals
  • To promote continuing communication among family memberes.
  • To reinforce the concept that religious education is a lifelong journey.
  • To provide support for harried parents and hurried children in a stressful society.
  • To become so self-assured as a family unit that we are able to reach out and serve others.
Fulfilling the Goals
  • We grow in faith and support other families by attending the monthly sessions.
  • We teach and learn Christian concepts by using the text material in a formal session and referring to that material informally as opportunities arise.
  • We pray as a family each day and communicate with God in our own words.
  • We will keep open the lines of communication and strengthen our family unit by participating in the program, for example, by attending the monthly sessions, by praying together daily.
  • We will gather with the parish community regularly on weekends.

Suggestions for Parents
The Monthly Sessions are important to the religious socialization of the group. We recognize that we are not isolated in our religious education. We can learn from other families and we have much to give to other families. The Monthly Sessions, therefore, are offered as support for our teaching mission.
